Been wondering for the longest time how you guys say: 140, 126, 124 etc

Over here we say: One four zero, One two six, One two four... as well as Zee twenty eight...

Is it the same over there? Just to make things universal. Thanks.

oh yeah... the 190E we say One ninety E... the only exception

Keep in mind locry that we (southern US) may be different than the rest of the US.

A Mercedes is a Honder?

One Forty, One two four, One two six, Two ten, Two Oh Three, Two eleven, One sixty, One seventy, Ponton, Roundie, Finnie, One One six, One two three, One oh eight and nine, Gullwing, Pagoda, Adenaur, etc.etc.

Non owners say Mercedes. Owners say Benz.

I slipped up there... the 190E is of course a "one ninety e"... hehe and yeah, we call it a "two o one"... the 210 is a "two one o" and never a "two ten"...

I don't know how it came about... but most non-owners here refer to our cars as a "chedeng"... and no, it's not a filipino word. It translates directly to "a Mercedes-Benz Automobile."

these cars do get some odd names over the world. I was in Nigeria once and over there this is how is rolls

W124 - Vee-boot
W140 - big vee boot
W210 - round vee boot

dont know of anything else there.

I wonder how it officially was done in german, each number is pronounced or the whole number.

Boot=trunk? Round vee boot?

The numbers don't make sense to casual owners and non-owners alike, C,E and S class is what most know... but then there are various model years.

the 210 is sometimes known as the "bug eye"
the 140 is "Princess D's" car or the "tank"
the 124 is the "box type"
the 201 is the "baby Benz"
the 126 is the "boat/barge"
the 123 is described as "the common one"
the 211,203 and 220 are the Chrysler E,C and S

It's quite hard going into a car conversation when the other person doesn't know the model code. Stating the year model rarely helps.

The round Vee boot got me confused too, It was explained to me as the car has a V shaped boot lid but is round and not like the 124 and 140

Sounds as if everyone in your part of the world are Pilots. Proper announcement of most everything in flying is individual digit pronunciation. Example; it is NOT runway seventeen, it is runway one seven. It is not twelve thousand feet, it is one two thousand feet.
