W124 Dasboard center air vent wheel/rotary dial?

OK, so I was adjusting the center air vent today with the little wheel that opens and closes it, and I've managed to push the wheel into the vent assembly slightly.

I don't think anything is broken, but it means I can no longer close the vents. Any takers on how I can pop the wheel back into place? Will it mean removing the vent assembly? It's an airbag car, so if I do need to remove it, how do I go about this?

One other thing, the EC button that turns the AC on & off now seems to turn the AC ON when the light is ON.

Before today, I'm certain it was the other way round...

According to the manual, the AC is OFF when the light is ON.
