I have noticed that the interior paneling of my car tends to vibrate and rattle while I an driving....particularly over a very bumpy road. The interior doors seem hollow. Anyone else notice that on their car? I was wondering if anyone has tried to remove their door panel and interior pillars to fill it with something to help muffle the sound by keeping a constant gentle pressure on the interior paneling. Also, my trunk door is bare metal. I tried spraying some sound deadening rubberized paint on the inside, but that didn't really work. Was thinking about getting some type of material to line the think as well. Not sure what to use in the inside paneling, was thinking fiberglas maybe. Or maybe something thicker like foam cushioning. I also would like to do the interior roof of my car, it just feels like whatever cloth is on the inside against bare metal. No insulation whatsoever. Looking for some feedback of anyone that has tried this or if anyone can bounce around some ideas. Thanks guys.

I would try that spray foam,insulation,being sure it doesn't impair windows or locks.
My S class gets noisey around 120mph

My experience with the asphalt based "peel and stick" material available from many sources is that it will stop large metal panels from buzzing, but it really doesn't block road noise or absorb interior sounds. Real sound absorbing material needs to be porus, like carpet. I lined my trunk with the stuff and didn't have any noticable change. It's also very heavy and adds weight. The adhesive is strong and once set is difficult to remove.

I just went to Lowes and purchased 40 sq. ft. of insulation fiberglas, 72 sq. ft. of aluminum foil, and 3 60ft. rolls of electrical tape and I have a bottle of Gorilla glue. I guess the noise that I am experiencing is really from the interior paneling. I'm not really looking into something as permanent as asphalt based or foam that is applied to the interior, just something as a buffer in between the hollow spaces. I plan on enclosing the fiberglas in between the foil and lining the interior of the car. Keep the suggestions coming, I will report back.

I used dina mat and the ebay knock off equivalent with good success.

I took my interior out and ran it across the floors, but I have yet to take care of the doors. The trunk made a huge difference b/c of my subwoofer.

Fiberglass insulation will absorb and hold water....lot's of it. I wouldn't recommend it for interior spaces. It will promote rust. Just my opinion. If you must use it, put it into a water tight plastic bag.

A full set of thick sheepsskin covers - front and rear - reduces the ambient noise considerably.

And very toxic. Use this is high heat areas and not only will it slide off if vertical but fume the driver if in the cabin.

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't even think about this. I will go back out and remove it from the door paneling and put it in a plastic bag. However I did put some in the B pillar, which I will leave alone.

Ivan, the noise is the flimsy paneling that is rattling and driving me crazy. I think I will opt out of sheepskin covers, I'm not a fan of any type of covering over the dash and over the seats.

Thanks, I will check the audio section. I did use the fiberglas and I have noticed a great improvement. No more annoying rattles
