Redline D4 ATF for 2002 E55 with 722.6?
I'd like to do a fluid and filter change in my E55 this weekend. Redline D4 shows as suitable for MB 5 and 6 speed transmissions. Anyone used it? Any alternatives?

I use in my 190E and noticed an immediate improvement in the shifting. Shifts quicker and just feels more positive. Subjective I know, but it's what I'll use from now on.

I have used it in a few BMW's and have been very pleased with it.

where did you buy it,and is it sync atf

I don't know 722. 6 or later owners who use it though. I also don't see MB listing it on the 236.14 sheet, which is the correct spec.

I only plan on changing what's in the drain pan and installing a new filter. I don't plan on changing the fluid in the torque converter.
I'm looking at Redline ATF. They have two types that are compatible for MB's. ATF D4 meets 236.10 standards, said to be suitable for MB 5 and 6 speed transmissions. The ATF D6 meets 236.12 standards, said to be suitable for MB 7 speed transmissions. I've read in some posts that 236.12 can also be used on MB 5 speed transmissions. Can anyone confirm usage? |
see p4 and 5 for correct applications

"SUITABLE" Does not mean approved by MB at all!
Stick with the fluid designed for that trans! |

Since your TC doesn't have a drain plug I would be even more concerned about mixing two different ATF's. If you are intent on switching have someone with a exchanger do it. |
