Replacing Engine Mounts
Has any one replaced the motor mounts on a 92 300e ?
|
quick answer : yes
passenger side is easy... driver's side requires some contorting of body and tools. do a search... it's fairly straightforward. you may consider doing the transmission mount at the same time |
The first few dozen times it's a pain in the a$$. After that it gets easier. :D

Sonny, remove the radiator cowling and jack up the engine slightly after removing the engine mount bolts to the frame. I found it easier to remove/replace the engine mounts by removing the engine bracket/mount in one piece and bolting the new engine mount to the bracket before reattaching the engine bracket. As mentioned the driver's side is a real bear. It tests your patience and perseverance.

I was able to do the driver's side by using a long 3/8" extension thru the manifold. Seems like I tried everything else first with no success.

I did it on my 91 300E
Soak the bolts with penetrating fluid overnight Nick |
Did my 300TE, used a block of wood across the oil pan as a lifting point, once done it made a difference in vehicle noise inside.
