I've often said of the early 4-matics, that "short of plowing snow with the bumper, you can't stop them". I've never even bothered putting snow tires on mine, it'll go plenty well in snow with summer tires, you just have to be a bit more careful when braking. In the wagon you do have to be careful with how you approach big drifts, if you get overzealous it is possible to high-center it.
