MAF and Limp Home?
I think I have the original MAF on my '93 320CE with 208K. I have had a strange 1-2 times only, limp home problem that has defied a solution. It only happens with a cold engine in the morning and once or twice restarted never occurs again until the next cold morning. I have rounded up the usual suspects to no avail.
Would a MAF be involved in the start up? Any ideas? Anziani '93 320CE208K '95 E420 128K |
Mass air flow sensors don't normally cause any type of limp home issues.
Limp home issues are usually caused by the electronic accelerator. Does the ASR lamp come on? Possibly the charging system is having issues ONLY with a cold start? |
Thanks MBDoc,
No I was just trying to eliminate everything. I have tried 3 different ETA's and all of the other components in the limp home system. New battery, alternator, voltage regulator, brake light switch, etc. Monitored voltage at rest, start, running and in limp home. No spikes (that I can see), no irregularities of any sort. Voltage always between 13 and 14.3VDC. I do hear a relay chattering from somewhere behind the instrument panel. There are relays inside an enclosure behind the fuse box. That is where I'm headed next. Anziani |
MBDoc,
I didn't completely answer your question. No, the ASR light does NOT come on. Is this a clue? Anziani |
