95 W202 strange noise near tranny tunnel
 

Lately I’ve been having an issue with my 1995 C280, 196K. On cold starts I get a rumbling sound and slight vibration near the transmission tunnel at idle and while driving. After about four miles or so it goes away. Transmission fluid looks good at the dipstick.
The guys at SWFL Mercedes-Benz Enthusiasts Club think it might be a loose torque converter bolt. Anyone every have anything similar to this? And any tips on diagnosis/repair?

How does the trasnsmission mount look?

+1 on the transmission mount question. We put over 50,000 miles on the C280 with intermittent mystery internal transmission noises before an indy who was looking for the cause of a big noise (soundproofing hanging down on flex coupling) casually diagnosed the mount as "collapsed". It looked fine to me, but I replaced it (fairly easy to do) and the mystery noises were gone. I needed to have an indy tear the soundproofing out, which involved removing the coupling to get the shaft out of the way.
