Leaky Injector Seal
When I replaced the injectors and seals on my 380sl, which has an aluminum head, I over-torqued one of the 6 mm (?) hex bolts that hold the injector down, and the injector seal now seems to be allowing a small amount of air into the cylinder, causing the car to idle a little higher than it should.
I'd remove the injector, and tap the hole so I could put a 7mm bolt in there. But, frankly, I'm afraid of making a liveable situation worse. So, I was thinking about putting a bead of silicon sealant or gasket maker around the seal to, hopefully, stop the leak until the injectors have to be replaced again. Although I realize this isn't the ideal solution, I can't think of any reason not to try it. However, before I do I was wondering if there was some I haven't considered? Thanks very much in advance for any advice anyone can give me. DD |
