My Xenon headlight problem. Please help.

First off 100.00 bucks at Autozone is too much for a damn bulb.
Anyway when i went to remove the old bulb , This is what i saw....EWWWWW.
Any suggestions?

Does this mean that i need to replace the ballast?
or can i clean the connector socket and just put in the new bulb?

First off, what kind of car is it?

You don't say what part of the world you are at but do you live where there are "Pull A Parts" type places nearby. If there are go there and cut one out of one of their cars and splice into yours. Get as much wire as you can reach when you get the one out of their car just in case you need it).

I would at least try a bulb before replacing it though. Clean it up good with electronic cleaner before you try it and replace it with a bulb purchased either from the dealer or this website. Good bulbs are not cheap anymore.

It is hard to say without having it in front of me, but the socket looks pretty bad. If the metal contacts are burned away then you would have to replace the socket. I don't know how common that problem is. I think BMW used that kind more than Mercedes. Not sure. You might also search on the BMW forum here and see if anyone knows anything about it.

Hard to say how difficult it would be to replace the socket if you have to. When searching you should probably also search on "HID".
