190E Removing rear door window regulator question?
1 Attachment(s)
I have my right rear door window regulator ready to pull out on my '93 190E, but I don't see any way to disconnect the 2 wires going to the motor. Do you cut the wires or what. In a picture of the new part I see online, it shows the green and black wires coming off of the motor but no connector.
The grey plastic guide on the vertical channel broke on one side....so I suppose I'll have to replace the whole unit. Everything lately has been plastic or rubber related failures. Any tips/recommendations? Thanks |
If they are the metal tubular looking ends, they go up to the switch connector, you take the connector apart and slip the 2 old ends out and put in the new ends. What works good so the wires don't all pull out, is to take the cap off the back of the connector with it plugged in to the switch, then pull the correct ones out only, the rest will stay attached to the switch.

Thanks Gilly, I'll check it out in the morning.

Well that worked and I removed the window regulator.
Has anyone had good luck using Dorman window regulator assemblies? The dealer wants $465 plus tax. |
I was in a dealership so never had an option on parts usually. Sometimes, but not usually.
That said have you tried eBay or checking a non-dealer source such as Pelican Parts (this site)? No gain on my part but they do provide this forum. |

I see a few price options on the whole assembly at Pelican Parts also, hopefully this link works: 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E Sedan - Bumpers, Doors, Latches & Lids - Page 1 |

Looks like the $128 regulator they sell is made by an OEM supplier to BMW and Porsche? Pretty good testimony to the quality of it.

The window regulator piece of crap plastic is now fixed!
My cable was tangled up in the spool, so I had to rewind the cable onto the spool. I purchased part #2107200042 from my indy for $13.50 to replace the broken slider. Broken assembly. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...pse6ed9d2d.jpg New part on left, broken slider on right. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps98568948.jpg I drilled out the rivets on both sliders. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps865eff8b.jpg The new green slider will replace the old grey one. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...psf48b8da0.jpg Re-installed the cable/springs/metal clip into the new green slider and attached the old cover and jaw. Do this with the cable off of the top nylon wheel. The new slider will snap into place on the guide rail. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps65c1fcbf.jpg The hardest part is putting the cable back onto the top nylon wheel due to the tension. I was able to get it started in the groove and used needle nose pliers to turn the wheel and feed the cable into the groove. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps30756586.jpg Finished product. Re-installed the window regulator and everything worked perfectly. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps97625900.jpg |
Good Job:thumbsup2:
