the cost of still a bit apart, and if you have a vise or can cobble up some sort of press then the bushings and ball joints replacement can be valueable. The bushings are very easy to remove once you grind/hammer away the inner sleeve, MB tells you to use a cold chisel to knock them out.

The bushings are about 70 a side and about 20 for a joint, so a total of 180 for the pair compared to 180/ piece is half the price. The problem comes around when you dont have the tools or nearby cost effective place to take them out.

W124 front end LCA's and Tie Rods replacement

Guys, we are about to tackle this job.

Do you guys think that this tool would work to take out the front spring on the W124?

IMO, I wouldn't use it.

Too much risk if you ask me.

The first spring job my buddy and using rental tools from the local auto parts stores. We got the job done. It was dangerous though. I made him take the one coil spring out to the middle of a field and decompress it.

Then I bought the $200 clone tool. Well worth it.

I bought the clone on amazon for about $180. I think it is JTC tool co. and it worked great. The springs in the front end are under a lot of stress in the W/124 and could really injure or kill you.
