85 to 82 300 td Wagon Engine & Tranny swap ???
Somehow a stud on the oil filter housing on my wife's 85 300 td wagon broke off and she lost all of her oil. It appears that we now have a bent connecting rod. So I am in the process of swapping the engine for an extra engine I had from an 82. Everything has gone as planned until I realized that there are a couple of sensors on the 85 that the 82 doesn't have and I am wondering what to do about it.
One wire comes from what appears to be a temperature sensor on the forward port of the block - just above the ip. The second is a sensor on the tranny housing just outside of the flywheel. Both lead to connectors on the middle of the firewall. The temp sensor leads to a 3 prong cylindrical connector and the other one leads to a flat two prong connector. What do these sensors do and can I just get by with leaving the leads empty or will that cause problems? Thanks for any help or suggestions. With Aloha Levie Yamazaki-Gray Moloka'i Hawaii |
You should post this in the Diesel Discussion -- this subforum is for gassers. Good luck!
