oil pump m116 (420 sel)
Hello, Is it possible to disassemble the oil pump in this engine to check out the internals or is it a case of once it is taken apart it is no good?
I took the pressure relief valve out and there is a flat spot at the end of the plunger and I don't know which way the flat spot is orientated or if it matters? Thanks. |

it's been a while since I've done this but----I THINK you can. I know the pickup unbolts and you can see the rotors. I remember removing the chain gear for a reason once, 15 yrs. ago, but don't remember why or whether the pump can be removed after that. I THINK it can. I KNOW the chain has to be broken to be replaced, but I think the pump tilts out after the gear is off. good luck, chuck.

co..uld'nt re...sist....took it apart...the 4 bolts that hold the side cover reveals the internal gears for the pump. fruitless there was nothing in there and it seems fine, nothing broken. Wonder what to re-torque those 4 side cover bolts to?
