1987 mercedes sl560 fuel pump relay

had starting problems. ordered new fuel pump relay. when it arrived it had four pins on one side instead of three. the extra was numbered 87h. i used it anyway but didn,t cure problem. don,t know if it was defective or if the extra pin was problem. i then jumpered pins 30 and 87 and car seems to run ok. will it do any damage to run with the pins jumpered till i order another relay? and does the extra pin cause a problem? thanks barry

Not sure on the extra pin.
You can run it like that I guess, there won't be any over rev protection, shouldn't be a big deal, and also you need to unplug it every time you stop the engine, and I do mean EVERY time, even if you run in to a store for "a few seconds".
