85 300D - Need New Armrest

I need a new armrest for my 85 300d. The plastic inside is broken, and the foam is in bad shape. I don't need a cover as I just ordered new seat covers. Where is a good place to get one. I see several on ebay, but it looks like some have a different mounting arm, and a slightly different overall shape. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably the cheapest solution is to find one in the junkyard thats in good shape.

Failing that you could try the dealership or an upholstery shop and have them redo the foam?

I have been having terrible luck with local junk yards an upholstery shops. I called seven junkyards and none of them have a w123. I called 3 upholstery shops and they all must be very busy because none of them were really interested in helping me. I also called the dealer and they are no longer available.

Hrmm. You could try posting up in the used parts for sale forum on here and maybe someone might have a parts car or seat...

You could try to adapt another car's armrest.. I'm not sure how well that would work. I know that i fitted a 124 armrest to my 201. I had to swap out the mounting mechanisms to make it work correctly.

No problem! All i had to do on my 124/201 conversion was change out one piece I believe. it was the piece that bolted to the seat. If yours is OK you might be able to use a 126 arm rest. Thats likely the closest compatibility wise.

GOT A PULL YOUR OWN PARTS YARD NEARBY?

Your profile doesn't say where you live, or I'd do some google searching for you, but if there are 7 yards in the vicinity, I'd bet there's got to be a yard where you pull parts on your own, that might have one. My guess is the 7 yards you tried probably didn't want to be bothered by what you and I would consider an important part and they would consider it an obscure and low margin one. I found the armrest I needed for a 124 I'm working on at the local PicknPull. Easy to remove and cost maybe $10. So find your local "U Pull It" and hop in the car and head there and maybe with some luck you'll score what you need or use James Dean's suggest to retrofit one from another model. Take pictures of your armrest before you go. Hope this helps.
