AC not working 1995 e320

Hi all,

I am out of town on a trip and the A/C on my 1995 e320 wagon is not blowing cold. I just had the freon replaced/recharged before I left home. Fuse #7 looked fine but I replaced it and it worked great for a part of the day and then went back to no cold air. If I am supposed to hear the compressor clutch clidk on, I am not.
In my cursory research online it appears that there is a relay for the a/c just behind the battery. Is there some way to test that relay other than sticking a new one in there? Is that fuse specifically for the a/c?

The relay I am thinking of is in this picture, poor as it is.

I am stuck on it being either an electrical problem or the clutch on the compressor gave up the ghost. I do not think it is a lack of freon because when it did come on temporarily it was very cold.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

Was it working before this?

Don't rule out refrigerant is not leaking. One of the Schrader valves may be leaking. Put some gauges on it to see what you got before you chase something that may not be wrong.

Check your belt , if its loose it will shut down compressor

It was working perfectly on the way out here.

The belt you are talking about is the serpentine belt?

thanks,

Why did you have the freon replaced if it were working?

He said the refrigerant was replaced/ recharged BEFORE he left, i.e., BEFORE he had this problem.

You can jump pressure switch pigtails assuming you are sure refrigerant is in there to verify it is electrical in nature...klima or fuel pump relay/climate control unit.
