w124 230te 1990 interior fan problem

Have a problem with the interior fan. I dont know the engine number, but its a euro petrol 230te. it is not a AC heater/coolin system, its of the old fashioned type. there is still heat comming from the vents, but the fan must be broken in some way. Does anybody know if this is a common problem on these models, or have experience on where to easiest acsess this fan?
Any help is much appretiated.

There is a strip fuse attached to the left shock tower, it is in a small plastic housing, see if the fuse is blown. Otherwise the fan is located under the wiper motor, the wiper motor needs tobe removed to get to the fan motor.
