Becker 1480 Issue
91 560SEL, radio just stopped working, it will not turn on any longer. When trying to turn it on, all you hear is clicking noise from the head unit and slight pop noises from the speakers. I check all the fuses including the one behind the radio & they are ok. I check all wiring behind the radio which is ok as well. Any tips? This problem happened out of nowhere. I would also like to point out that I have has the RR shelf speaker disconnected because it was blown

My '91 has the two piece, 1432.
I went through multiple head units before finally swapping the trunk unit... that cured my ails. I had forgotten my emblem seeped water thus making the trunk damp for a while, it destroyed that back unit. The system is very simple. 1432-1991 |
You could have Becker Autosound take a look at it. They are near Patterson, NJ. They even have an exchange program.

I emailed them on Monday and did not get a response yet. I tried calling today around 2pm and no one answered. I will look into the trunk unit

I've had better luck calling vs email.

1480 Becker
Head unit is done! Becker Audio by phone and they will do an exchange or replace with a modern unit. Actually very simple. Use your front left and right inputs to the line outs in new head. This will put input to the fader. Turn off new head amp. in new head through set-ups. Will sound great and takes about 2 or three hours to install. If you need help with the wiring let me know.

I will call first thing tomorrow.
While looking in the trunk to see if I have a rear unit (Tuner) which I do not I found these set of wires.. I wonder what they are for? Looks audio related |
cd changer.

Nope. That DIN cable is for the 1432 system and hooks the dash unit to the tuner box in the trunk. Plug on the right powers it up and the other is for the amplifiers behind the seats. The CD changer (if equipped) interfaces with the system via another DIN plug that connects to the tuner box in the trunk. |
