Noise from W124 wagon rear hub

Hi Everyone- I had my passenger rear wheel bearing replaced on 11/2011. My car is a 95 E320 wagon. Recently, I have started hearing a noise again from that wheel. The rear rotors/pads/added stainless lines were all done last week. However, the noise started before the brake work. I had thought that the noise was attributed to the bad rear brakes.

The noise I am hearing sounds as though the backing plate and the rotor are touching. I got under the car yesterday and doubled checked things. The backing plate is not touching and I could hear the noise with the wheel off.

I am guessing it could be the hub bearing or possibly the e-brake sticking??? The best way to describe the sound is that is has the same sound as if the backing plate was touching. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Hmmm. the Rear brakes are on a vented rotor, in 95, is there anything dragging? if the pads were put on, and the caliper needed repair, you could have dragging pads...

do you hear the noise at highway speeds? if you corner hard one way or the other does the noise change pitch or stop?

Yes, the car has vented rear rotors. You can hear the noise by turning the wheel by hand. The noise actually started prior to the brake work. I had assumed the noise was from the spent rear pads grinding on the rotors.

Your rear brake pads are worn.

My rear brake pads and rotors are brand new. The noise started prior to replacing the brakes.

I'd pull the caliper and rotor and check the parking brake.

Moreover once the rotor is off you can turn the hub and see if the noise is gone.

Good luck.
