piston and rod replacement
I have a 1971 280 SE six cylinder. I need a new or used piston and rod. My machanic quoted me prices for a new piston out of germany that was out of my budget. I over heated the motor when the water pump failed and ceised the motor. I need one piston and one rod. Any suggestions? How much should a complete motor out of a salavage yard run? Can I buy a short block out there? The mechanic says the block on my engine is fine. What should I do? Thanks

Measure the size of the piston you need and start a WTB thread.

It's time to say good bye to this car unless you like seeing your mechanics twice a month. First of all the mechanic should have told u right away when the piston seizes up the whole engine has to be rebuilt, not just the piston.
