transmission problem. my 380sl is shifting 1-2 high rpm & hard, 2-3 flares up .it's as if there is no assist, only shifting when the trans pressure forces it.. no 4th gear.

rebuild the tranny
 

How many miles? Did you check the transmission fluid? How does it smell? Has the car's transmission been serviced? The way you describe your transmission problem looks like it needs a rebuilt tranny.

That sounds like vacuum. Need to hunt for leaks.

Mileage and history is extremely helpful. When we look at questions and symptoms, we have to basically diagnose the same way a Dr would. We need to see the medical history for clues as to the culprit.
