95 e320 wagon no start no crank
Yep read the title. I've done extensive searching and no answer other than the "x27" and k38 stuff. I don't see the three wire near the booster on the firewall to jump. No one posted a pic and I must be really stupid.
Key goes in and battery has power. Key turns to start position and no crank. Tranny moved to "N" with same result. I tried searching for the Dalton x27 thread and can't find it. there are 23 threads which come up- none started by dalton. please help. |

X27 jumper verified by A Dalton and the car starts. Now to find the upstream issue...

I had the same problem yesterday with 99 S class.I located K38 under my hood and gave the relay a little smack and it works.I ordered new one from pelican parts. On pre 96 S class its next to gas pedal, coupes behind glove box,w124s behind instruments.

So I go to the yards today to look for the K38 relay. The first three w124's have the cluster removed and the relay missing... lol. I find another one and remove it! Score. Then I see a pair of w126's- one early and one late gen. The late gen has like five right there in drivers engine side. I buy three total- all identical. Try them each on my car and it still will not start without the x27 jumper trick. Next is the NSS? What's it look like and where is it?
A Dalton had lead me to here and I'm quite grateful. On the awesome side I find a striped alloy w123 rim. Been looking for one for quite some time as I have three others. super score... Last edited by MTUpower; 10-06-2013 at 09:42 PM. |

My indie showed me that the tumbler in the ignition cylinder was bad. He removed it and now I start the car with a screwdriver. I ordered a new tumbler and it'll be here and installed by the weeks end. Thanks for the help Mr Dalton and everyone!

It was the tumbler- not the relays or anything else. New ignition tumbler ($145 installed, with another key, matching of course) and problem solved.
Anyone who needs the K-38 relays just PM me and I'll send you one or two for the price of shipping and a few bucks. |

Thanks for the info. Good to know.
I just recently replaced the tumbler on my wife's 1995 E320 wagon proactively. Glad I did too, because it was broken on the inside and very loose, and it would only have nene a matter of time before it failed. Tumblers are an overlooked wear part.... |
