190 E steering question
my secratery has a 88 190E. She thinks I know about cars, so she had my drive hers today to "figure out" whats going on. It seems to have a lot of play in the steering, pulls to the left when you accelerate, and makes a funny noise when you turn. Any ideas? If this was some Japainze car I'd assume it needed a new front axel/cv joint, but this obviously no Front wheel drive. Any ideas, places to start? There's not to many places around here to take a MZB, and I'm worried she'd get ripped off just taking it to any tire/break/whatever shop. Thanks.

Play in the steering could be a few things. First the front wheel bearings should be examined for looseness and rougness. The tie rodsends should be examined for play the idler arm should be checked for upand down movement. The steering gear on thes cars is adjustable to eliminate some play in the box.
The pulling on acceleration is probably wear in the rear end links. |
Get the tracking and the camber of the wheels checked as well
