Will Car Drive in Reverse with Bad Clutch Disk?
Last night I was stopped at a light and unable to shift from neutral into any gear. After a minute+ of frustration the stick finally moved into 1st, but when hitting the gas the engine RPM would jump but the car would only move VERY slowly. This happened in any gear except reverse, where it would drive fine (backwards).
I am being told it is a bad clutch disk (tranny not yet pulled). Does this sound correct? Would a car drive in reverse but not fwd with a bad clutch disk? Thanks in advance |
Tell us which car / transmission / model etc etc etc

yes a clutch pak could be out.I drove one night 40 miles in reverse to my house

If reverse is a lower gear than first, a failing clutch might be able to get you going backwards but not forwards.
