Put me down as another Uro hater- tie rods this time

I installed these Uro tie rods a couple of years back. This weekend, I noticed a violent shake at various speeds (40-50mph). I thought it might be the tires needing rebalancing. So today I take the car to the tire place, while it is on the rack, I do the 9 and 3 o'clock shake and note a good half inch play on the driver's side. I don't bother with the balancing.

The interesting thing is the rubber is still good but the joint inside is clearly bad.

I placed my Pelican order with "kenny" for the center drag and sides.

I am NEVER going to put anything but OE parts on my car again. My life is not worth risking over this.

Like the rubber they use, the metal seems soft. Almost like scrap lead. I won't even buy a URO grille insert! It amazes me they can even produce car parts legally!

It is frightening. I just made a very valiant attempt to get all German front end parts for my BMW. Fingers crossed etc.

Makes me wonder what's in new cars? Are they using "Uro" style parts in their front ends, bearings, etc...?

I don't think new cars use parts that poor quality. The car companies are conscious of class action lawsuits.

Jaguar Classic is the replacement parts division for older cars, not Jaguar's new cars group. The article you quote says nothing about supplying parts for new / current Jaguars.

Laso is acceptable. But your best bet is to go ONLY with Lemforder (if available) or MB OE.

very interesting. this is the perfect example of misleading advertising. URO wants you to think that they are supplying Jaguar. To the untrained, Jaguar Classic is no different from Jaguar.

It gives you an insight as to their business philosophy and sneakiness.

The metal in the URO tie rod on my car probably started life as a can opener or something.

If MB ever used URO as an OE for car parts (I.e. I open up an MB parts box and find a URO part in there with an MB star/number on it) its seppuku-time for me.

Gerry,

Just make sure to buy a URO brand seppuku knife, and you'll be just fine...

(we need to keep you around here and the 500 board for a while.)

Sad commentary on our society.

Sadder commentary that people continue to buy this stuff, often despite knowing it's junk and they will be replacing it sooner than later.
