trunk lid on 560 sl
the other day i purchased a ceiling fan for my son and placed it in the trunk of my 1989 560 sl and in the process had to work in the car cover which is alwys in the trunk. After some manipulation the trunk seemed to close easily, but I am now unable to open the trunk. When I use the mechanism to lock and unlock the doors and trunk there seems to be some connection at the trunk button but not to the full extent. I push the button and the trunk fails to open and when I push down on the trunk lid I hear a distinct 'click', as if it is re-engaging. Is there a problem with the vacuum system or did I wedge something in the mechanism or perhaps some other problem? I thank you for your time and expertise. al schultz

if the trunk latch is releasing - the only thing I can think of is to release it and pull up on the lid using discretionary force in the hope of unjamming whatever is holding it.
