89 300E freeze plug

Ive got at least one freeze plug that looks reeally ugly. Appears to have seeped a bit over time. Its not wet now but....

Last one on the passenger side. Seems to be room to get in there too.

Anyone swapped these and can give me an idea of any trouble points ?

I intend to replace it with a brass plug

How long have you owned the car? Maybe the owner before never changed the anti-freeze. We assume you bought it used

When I pulled my engine 3-4 years ago, the plugs were mostly fine. Sometimes you get Leaks elsewhere and it would look like the freeze plug.

Having replace them on other cars I can tell you it will be a bit of a challenge doing it with the engine in.
