Got a 92 300E to keep me busy

Got a 92 300E. $650.00 and saved it from the crusher next week. I found this one and thought this would be a project me and my old man would have done and I wanted to keep his memory alive now that he's gone. He had a 300E just like it and I couldn't resist it. The 92 300E is 040/168A. I had it towed to my home today. Put a battery in it and cranked. Runs nice thru the gears nice. Film pictures I took yesterday I dropped off last night to be developed, will have some nice ones of it later to put up! It will need a suspension overhaul soon.

Replaced so far
1) Battery
2) Fuel filter
3) Spark plugs with good used ones till new ones arrive (non-resistors)
4) Dizzy cap, rotor and wires with new ones I had never used
5) Flex disc

To-Do
1) R/R all the fluids & replace all associated filters
2) R/R upper timing cover gasket & valve cover gasket to fix oil leaks!
3) R/R rheostat
4) R/R front pads
5) R/R wheel bearings
6) 96 E320 wheels I have with good tires later today to spruce it's look.
7) Detail the interior later today and go at it with a carpet cleaner.

I love 040 black on a W124.

040 is the clearest blackest black I have ever seen.

It is a beauty! I've ran the vin with no accident history, but oddly he had the impact strips painted black 040 which makes me a little uneasy like it's been hit. Original paint shines with a good wash/buff! Did some work to her today and picking up my film tomorrow morning.

Replace today on a lazy Sunday in the garage:
1) Fuel injectors - I found a good set I had in the attic!
2) Front brake pads
3) It was BJ day. With no pun intended I swear! did the ball joints.
4) Oil & filter, brake flush, tranny flush and assorted
5) Today was carpet cleaning. Removed the seats and found a Phil Collins cassette, 5 cents, an old trojan wrapper plus an old and crusty french fry and crinkled McDonald's bag under the seat!

Today I went to remove what I thought was a inoperable stock head unit. Well, turns out someone removed it and cut half the harness and put the head unit back in. I drove over to the parts car at the shop and cut that harness, and spliced in the used one. I didn't see the point in why it was cut.
