R170 fuel pressure check valve
'98 SLK 230 takes long time to crank, checked fuel pressure and it drops within 10-15 seconds of shutting the engine off.
I've search online and have not found any mention of a fuel pressure check valve. Is the valve located in the 'expensive' fuel pump? |

Anyone?
I'm tempted to try one of the cheap aftermarket pumps on ebay. If that fixes it all gladly pay the $250 for the OEM. I was hoping there was a check valve external to the pump. |

Update.
I replaced the fuel pump with the $63 ebay unit on 12/30/13. I got a msg from the wife this week that the SLK would not start. Sure enough, the pump is dead. Had to trailer it home 50 miles through Dallas rush hour traffic. I'll buy the OEM pump this time. Oh well... |
