190e Charcoal Cannister Test Procedure
I just pulled the driver fender off a donor car and grabbed the charcoal cannister and check valve while I was pulling stuff. What is the procedure to test?
I blew through the short curly pipe on one end and charcoal went shooting out another hose. When I blow through the larger hose I can barly blow. |
From what I've been reading, charcoal coming out means it is shot. I'm assuming the one in my car is also shot for two reasons. One is I am replacing that fender because it was crunched in the past and had a poor bondo job done. I suspect the cannister may have gotten damaged as well. Symptoms to back up this theory are that it can be difficult to fuel up. I have to fuel up carefully or the gas pump thinks it is full and cuts off. Also pressure builds in the tank. I put a new gas cap on and it blew the rubber gasket.
So my question now is... Is there an alternative replacement for the charcoal cannister? Best price I can find is 120 shipped. I read another thread where somebody used a BMW part? |
