DIY - Clean up weather stripping

I've asked a lot of questions on these forums and recieved a lot of help. I'm going to try to start giving back.

The weatherstripping on my 190e is still "ok". But, it always smears black stuff on the paint when I wash it. The fix... Tape off around the rubber using masking tape. Spray it with Simple Green and using pressure wipe off with paper towels. Repeat until the paper towels come away clean, or you can't stand it anymore.

I use it to clean up / restore anything rubber.

Simple Green acts as a rubber preservative and cleaner. It is widely used in offroad rc car racing to clean the hideously expensive soft rubber tires and prolong their life, which is where I got the idea. Trust me, it works.
