hirschmann antenna replacement mast woes.

I have a hirschmann antenna that I aqcuired with my 300te. Unfourtunatly it had the mast completly snapped off. It seems that as long as you have the code on the top of the mast, replacing it is easy.

It is an auta 6000el

MB part # 124 820 4975

other numbers include MCA 4591, and a serial # of 17 04 c 02 09

Any help would be much appreciated.

Contact Becker Audio in New Jersey for the proper part number. They also rebuild Hirschmann antennas.

Thanks for the tip. If all else fails I'll send it out. Kind of a fan of DIY though so I'd rather give it a shot first.

Here is an eBay vendor selling an OEM antenna mast.
They are easy to install if it's just a broken mast.
I installed one on my W124 with no problems.

this ebay guy is great. i first got a uro antenna from him because i was being foolish. now i have the real deal. antenna aint floppy. when inserting it slather some silicone grease on the plastic toothed piece it will ensure squeak free operation.

Problem is that I already bought one on ebay that was seemingly the correct one, and it did not fit. My antenna has a small silver box (telephone) attached to it so some are not compatable?

Its kind of tricky with this antenna as I think its not a basic one.

According to the EPC that part number was not used on a 124... Interesting.Just 140 and 129.

However the replacement mast seems to be the same for that part number and the actual antenna for that car...

140 827 00 01, from model year 92

Screen shot from EPC...

my w124 car has a similar antenna which had a small powered amp box that has a port for "telefon" and a port for "radio" - it takes its feed pickup directly from the mast and also has a dedicated power line too.

Its mast is shorter than normal antennas and the last top bit is a black plastic extension.

No problem! Mine had nice instructions for replacing the mast right on the bag, thought that was pretty good. One day all my cars will have working antennas.

Antenna arrived and was a perfect fit. Unfortunately, I believe the control board is bad. I was able to cycle the motor by applying 12v directly to the motor. When installed, nothing.

The antenna has a 3 prong plug, and a small additional plug that ties in with one of the 3 plugs.

I have one constant power, a constant ground, and when I turn on the radio I get another 12v from the third wire. From my research it seems that all that is correct. I bought another antenna on eBay for parts and ill report back if I figure it out.

My car had a dud antenna too, its control board had micro pieces in it and one was fried.

I found the box on ebay for 5 dollars plus postage. - It was a 202 part no. but was the same fitting and wiring plug too. Worked a treat.
