1993 300ce cab connection and frayed wires
 

I noticed a terminal with wires connected to the drivers firewall. A connector/plug 0125452428 pushes into this terminal. The wires from the terminal go into the engine compartment and (at this point some of the insulation has come off the wires down into a bracket and a large jacketed wire. No problems with car yet.
Does any have any pictures and a solution. Thx

Automotive stores sell that black tubing with a slit down it which is used to cover wires in cars. I think they call it split wire loom or wire tubing.

They may have a tubing small enough for just one wire. Then you could place a tube over each individual wire with frayed insulation, then tie wrap the tubing on.

I wouldn't think electrical tape would hold up very long with the heat in the engine compartment.

Thx for your suggestion. I was thinking of shrink wrapping each individual wire up to it's insulation and then placing wire loom around it for added protection.

I am having trouble attaching pictures. The wires in question are just around the oil filter cover #104-184-06-08

Can anyone tell me what these wires are for and the best method to rewrap them?

One or two layers of shrink wrap would be the best next to fully replacing each wire.

They go to starter, oil level sensor,dont remember all, but its called a starter harness ,its avaiable seperate from engine harness, i have it hanging in my garage, my 94 320 wagon has same problem
