W201 KE-Jet Woes.
 

Doing a tune up on the old 190 today. Dizzy cap, rotor, wires, cleaning up some bits of the CIS.

I've run into some issues though. The car does not idle great, so I decided to clean out the IACV, the IA distributor (which was clogged solid). The IACV has an adjustment knob on it, which I accidentally moved when I yanked it out.

What's the factory setting (or a good ballpark) for this knob?

The Microswitch is also annoying the **** out of me. With the throttle at rest, the linkage wasn't even touching the switch. I looked at the Mircoswitch, no way to adjust (unlike other CIS cars I've owned where you can move it back and forth. I adjusted the throttle cable all the way out and the linkage is still 2-3 mm from engaging the microswtich and everything is loose and sloppy adusted out like that. What the hell?!? Is my cable just all stretched out or am I going about this the wrong way?

Make sure all the springs are in place. I bet you're missing the one that snaps it back in place.

What year is your car? I/ve never seen an IACV with an adjustable knob. I also had a problem with idling yesterday. I bought a new O2 sensor and the problem is fixed. As for your cable, there is 2 adjustment points: one is under the air filter housing and the other is attached to the gas pedal. Take a few pictures and post them of the microswitch and all surrounding components. Liquiddog may be right about the spring being amiss.

It's an '84. The idle air dizzy is different from the ones I've seen too. I think 84 has a lot of year specific parts.

I'll take some pictures. I only see two springs. One that gives the linkage its "snap back" and another on the end of the throttle cable itself, which seems to hold tension. With the throttle cable adjusted all the way out like that, there's no tension. So that's not right.
