M113 Chain stretch
Hello guys,
I hope someone here can help. I have a donor M113.984(208 CLK55) for my C43, I want to check timing over before install. WIS specifies used chain at 2mm lift on the intake is 25 ATDC - I assume this is a maximum value?, my test shows 31. It also specifies 35 BBDC for the exhaust of which I get 25. Now, if the chain was stretched wouldn't the the difference in intake or exhaust timing be of equal value?. ALSO, when checking intake valves on both sides of the V I get 31 degree's... if the chain was stretched I'm sure the values would be different because of the difference in distance to the crank pully is doubled in the V. When I lock the cams the sequence is to lock the right hand cam first, then when I lock the left I have to turn it back 2-3 degree's to get the cam lock in, this makes the chain slack between the cam sprockets...which in turn makes you think the chain is stretched...but when the left hand cam is locked the crank pully is spot on 40 degree's. suspecting the cams are not what WIS thinks they are(they are close to some of the 5.0L specs) I tried to check the cam code numbers...which don't exist on the cam flange....so I pulled of the sprocket to look further...still no numbers to be seen. Ironically.... the numbers for my water pump, timing case, flexi plate etc do not show up in EPC but they are all original parts this engine has never had a bolt undone....I thought I had a bad copy of EPC so I check with the local dealer and nope none of the parts show up in there's either this is doing my head in a bit. |
