Has Anyone Ever Replaced the Front Control Arm Bushings on a W210?

Hi,

I'm looking at making my own bushings for my '98 and I need to know the approximate diameter of the bushings so I can buy the stock.

Has anyone ever pressed the bushings out and know the diameter?

Thanks!

KarTek, it is far too late for me to be making racket but I'd be glad to get the dimensions to you tomorrow. I have some in the attic I'm saving for my 606 w210.

That is awesome, thanks! If at all possible can you post a couple pictures as I have n idea what they look like outside the control arm?

Thanks again, no hurry on this.

Are you referring to the bushings for the LCAs? If so, I had the larger of the two bushings on each LCA replaced with Poly. Got them from a supplier on the west coast. Don't know if they still make them. It was a time consuming job so i didn't want to ever have to replace them. No squeaking to date.
Are you making the smaller bushings for the front of the LCAs in poly? If so, I may be interested in buying two.

I have read and heard that poly bushings for the front of the LCA will cause the ride to become harsh. Is that the case?

Reason for asking is that I may do it in the future.

Usually poly bushing enthusiasts are more interested in improving their lap times than improving ride comfort. It's whatever floats your boat.

My plan is to fabricate some out of UHMW plastic. I need a few preliminary dimensions to buy stock to turn them. If they're too harsh, I'll just buy a set of stock bushings since mine are worn out anyway.

I didn't notice much of a harshness difference between my old worn out bushings and the new poly bushings. The front end certainly felt much more tightened up after I did this work. The project included ball joints and control arms as well.
My vehicle has Bilstein HD shocks with the original springs/pad combination. In my opinion, choice in shock absorbers will give you the biggest changes between ride feel. I will most likely use the regular Bilsteins or the Comforts when I change shocks again.

It's been a month now so I thought I'd bring this back to the top for additional input if any...

Since it's been another month, I'll throw this back out there. Trying to not be annoying, just a gentle reminder... :)
