W210 Steering Rack (right hand driving)

Oil leakage was found in the steering rack of My E280 (210 063) 1998 model with engine model 112.921. I locate in Hong Kong and the driving side is right hand side. My mechanic told me that it need to be replaced (no one in hong kong doing the refurbishing works). The new one is expensive. I have search around the web want to find one either aftermarket or remanufactured. However, I can locate any web side can supply right hand driving.

Could anyone kindly advise me which web side I can contact.

Thanks in advance.

If there are MB dealers in Hong Kong contact one of them. Or, I would expect that your mechanic could purchase one from his parts supplier.

Dear Ferd,

Thanks for your reply, in fact the locate agent will only supply the genuine parts of the steering rack as whole cost about 2900 usd (equivalent). I have also check against the parts supplier in hong kong, they also only supply the genuine one may be of about 10% discount from the authorized dealer. That's why I want to search around the web to ship the aftermarket/OEM or the remanufactured one to see how much can I save.

In fact, I know some of the parts supplier in Hong Kong in person.

I saw several racks on ebay uk. They're used, but if you wanted you can also buy a seal kit and replace the seals before installing.

It's not well documented. If you don't know of a good shop that can do it, best bet may be to look for a rebuilt unit.
