Ignition Rotor Resistance & Rough Idle??

I have a Bosch ignition rotor which has resistance of 1KΩ stamped on it as. I measured the resistance of the rotor and I'm getting 1.1KΩ. Will this variation cause the car to run rough???

Doubtful. Ignition rotors tend to fail outright. Not saying impossible but I'd go as far as unlikely. Never hurts to have fresh parts though I'd keep digging before dropping $$$ on a cap and rotor.

The rotor on points equipped vehicles is 5k Ohm. Does that answer your question?

On CDI systems the is no resistor just a plain metal arm. Why? Heat. A CDI system will fry a 1, 5, or any other resistive rotor arm in short order.

The resistance is there to squelch the radio interference.... plus boost the spark.....coil needs to push harder to shove the electrical pulse down the system. If you use MSD coil wound ignition wires they have a 1k ohm resistance per foot IIRC.

Most OE ignition systems are crap....until we got COP.

On the other hand, cap & rotor are standard maintenance and not all that $. Just make sure to get the right one, by a quality manufacturer. If that is not the issue you have a spare, it is the issue, throw that away :)

A variation in the measured resistance of commercial resistors, made with a non-laboratory grade ohmmeter, of +/- 10% is entirely within spec. That variation from the marked value is not the source of any problem.

All ignition components are new, and idle air control valve hoses are new, but I am getting a fault code 11 air injection system and the car runs rough when put into drive or reverse.
