2001 E430 radio and climate control

I would like to ask two questions on two separate issues, if I may.
The first involves my climate control. Everything is working wonderfully, except I have no light. The red lights to signify the auto system is engaged work, but the rest of the control lights are out. Could this be a fuse or something that needs replacing of the entire system.
Second, when my mechanic changed the starter on the vehicle sometime back, he disconnected the battery. Upon reconnecting, the radio is completely out, nothing, zilch, zip. Could this also be a fuse or will the entire unit need replacing.
Thank you for your assistance.

Look in your manual for radio code, once powered down they need to be reset. Its a theft deterrent thing

If you mean the illumination lights on the CC they are inserted from the back. You'll need to pull the CC using 'radio keys' to access them. (Fuses #4 and #7 under hood)

While it's true that you will need the radio code eventually, however if there is no display then it isn't asking for the code yet. Check the radio fuse. Note there may also be one on the back of the radio depending on which model. You'll need to pull the radio for access. (Fuses #11 under hood)
