adhesive for insulation on door panel
I need to remove the insulation on the door panel in order to do the window regulator replacement.
I know someone suggests I can reuse the adhesive retained on the door but fear that some of those were already peeled off, so what's the adhesive to use? |

You can use 3M's 8090. Its a good aerosol adhesive. Commonly used around here for hood pads and trim.

That black rubber looking glue is this
![]() Mercedes benz dont use it - they applied the plastic sheet with rubber based glue to the doors. but if you fancy to buy this ribbon sealer then autozone/advance auto etc have them for about 20 dollars. It will last you your entire life and then some unless you have a business that repairs cars.

Why don't use the "rubber based glue" instead just like what MB does?
What rubber based glue suitable for this purpose? Quote:

contact cement from home depot.
The 3M spray 1090 is also very suitable for this job - better than the original stuff. btw after all these years the plastic shrinks, its better to cut new plastic pieces and stick them correctly - a couple of contractor trash bags also work or you can buy plastic sheeting from home depot too.

There is a gray putty like caulking string / rope sold at home centers to stop drafts in door frames and windows. This would work. I've seen similar stuff on other cars where there was an actual string embedded apparently to keep it from breaking during application.
The 3M glass ribbon caulk is going to be too large. |
