Can I disconnect the seatbelt presenters with out affecting the operation of the central locking and other systems on the C fuse circuit?

zeggate, check the fuse card. I removed the fuse to disable the seat belt presenters in our 1991 and 1992 300CE's. That fuse was for the heated outside mirrors, so I lost that function also.

Thanks ,but I'm thinking of removing the rear side panels and actually disconnecting the electrical connection for the seatbelt extenders. If I do that will I disable the other functions and will the fuse continue to protect the circuit?

zeggate, disconnecting the seat belt presenters should only affect their operation and the fuse will protect the wiring.
Lee, I find the seat belt presenters annoying ... especially for passengers who are unfamiliar with them. It's simple enough to grab the seat belt just behind the seat at floor level. The trim piece on the driver's side rear panel had come loose so I disabled the presenters rather than reposition the trim piece regularly.

disconnecting seatbelt extenders
My question /reason for disabling the extenders is ,the passenger side has free will and is presently stuck in the extended position and as soon as it operates the C fuse blows. Does any have any other ideas ?

Zeggate,
Sounds like the small gear on the drive unit is stripped. I had a '93CE and now a '97CL500. I love the extenders and the look on a new passengers face when the arm comes out! Any way, I bought a metal gear from a company on the East Coast for $75. Works great, but with a little noise. Mercedes does not offer this gear, only the complete assy for about $700! If you want the name of the company, answer this and I will start digging. Anziani '97 CL500 147K '95 E420 134K |
