W126 300SD Garrett wastegate diaphragm?
My wastegate is leaking oil all over everything beneath it. It's not a lot of oil of course, but over time... I cannot seem to find a new diaphragm anywhere, even places which have turbo rebuild parts don't have it. Does anyone know where to find these?
|
Are you talking about the wastegate itself or the wastegate actuator?
|
The actuator, I guess. But I'm not aware of any other diaphragm?
|
can you post a photo of the area and point out where the leak is coming from?
if its the actuator you can probably just get a replacement actuator. I dont think they're that expensive. Mercedes doesn't list a part number for the actuator so you'll need to talk to a turbo shop. |
How is the actuator even removed? I've tried and tried on my old turbo, without success.
I'd love to replace the actuator with one that isn't garbage. For example, that can be adjusted externally, and preferably without this particular method of retaining the cap, which is very difficult to deal with underneath the vehicle. The leak is coming from behind the cap. The problem is the diaphragm. There's only one rubber diaphragm in there. I have two, one is visibly cracked, and the other one is on my car and leaking. If I had the KKK turbo, I'd have replaced the actuator already in this situation |
Here are some pics of my turbo...
Rebuilt OM617 Garrett AiResearch Turbo - Imgur Hmm I can't say that I've opened it up or figure out how to remove it. The turbo on my 91 300D is much more amenable to actuator changing. I would suggest contacting Pure Turbos..they're rebuilt my turbo. Maybe they can give you some additional insight? |
