84 300D heating/cooling/what the heck? issues
 

When i got the car it had been sitting for several years. The heater/AC worked just not well. I charged the A/C and it worked fair, then it started just blowing warm air but the a/c is working, i figured mono valve as the hoses feel warm when it should be cooling. Then the other day i hit the a/c button but the button didn't go all the way in(just didn't hit it hard enough) but when i hit it again nothing. i have checked the fuses, unless there is one hidden, all good, it will now only work on hi if i set it to defrost. i have checked and no leaks to be found. I did notice that what looks to be the drain(middle of the tunnel over the trans) needs a new hose as it's all degraded and mostly gone.

any of this sound familiar with these cars? another trip inside a little silver box like the cruise control? hidden fuse? vacuum not pulling in somewhere?
