1995 E320 Code 10

Hey Everybody, I recently picked up a 1995 E320 wagon. Upon pickup I put in a newer 2004 Delphi Wiring harness, and new spark plug wires. I read the codes on the module in the battery compartment with the button on pin 2 and the LED on pin 4 and originally it came up with code 3 and 5. I plugged the EGR since it had a vacuum leak anyway (will clean the tube at a later date) and ordered a new O2 sensor to put in this weekend, in the mean time I reset the codes and the check engine light did not go away. So I read them again and code 10 appeared. It is the Voltage at hot wire mass air flow sensor too high/low. I had a spare MAF on hand and swapped it out and reset the code. The light went away the rest of the day. The next morning the light is back on, code 10. It is possible that I have 2 bad MAF's, but I think unlikely. All the vacuum leaks are eliminated and I will put on a new 02 sensor because it threw that code once before. There is a surging idle with a little bit of a rich exhaust smell. The car starts right away and there is no difference when running hot or cold. Usually it idles around 700RPM but other times I catch it around 900RPM and slowly creeping up into the low 1000's. Any input to help eliminate the problem would be greatly appreciated.
