Painting exhaust system

Just picked up a new exhaust system and it has the silver paint applied.
I was planning on painting it to prolong the life of the system with either zinc paint or some exhaust hi temp paint from the local auto supply.
Any suggestions? I was leaning for the zinc to prevent corrosion externally.

Thanks.

The zinc I've used before tends to burn off. High temp silver works just fine, be sure to wipe down with lacquer thinner for good adhesion. And, clean / touch up every few years.

krjt, as far as I know exhaust systems normally rust from the inside out, primarily as the result of a vehicle being driven short distances repeatedly. The exhaust system never reaches operating temperature, and internal condensation causes oxidation to start on the bottom of the exhaust pipe and muffler, etc.

Spray and brush. Search "stove paint" for products.
