1991 300CE- but it's not.

Just want some guidance on something that is bugging me. I just wrapped up a 1991 300CE for a customer- Well, I say it's 1991 anyways, because it's a July 1991 birthday. Yet, it's titled as a '92 and has the later engine, and not a lot of 1991 parts fit it, including the antenna.

To my knowledge, 1992 model year production began on 1. August 1991, yet this is a July car. What exactly is going on here? Anyone know?

tram, although I am not sure when the production runs changed for Model Years 1991 and 1992 I do know from having owned both a 1991 and 1992 300CE that the antennas were different. Both had the same engine though ... with the same EZL.

I have a 97 model year E 320 that was shipped from the factory 06 - 28 - 1996 according to the data card print out.

Look for the build date on the door frame sticker and a emissions sticker under the hood listing the model year.

I'll have a look at my 97 SL320 as well.

OK, makes sense. I got the '91 antenna because of build date, but when I order parts from my regular parts guys I always include VIN, so all the other parts fit OK.

Don't feel comfortable posting a VIN that's not mine, but the tenth digit is indeed an "N", so 1992 it is. But built in July 1991....
