Climate Control 201 and 124 cars
Does anyone know why Mercedes got rid of the Economy button in 1987. Was there a change in the climate control system that made it use up less engine power and therefore no longer need the switch? Thanks. Also, what does the top button on top of the AC button do in 1987 and newer cars? Thanks.

do you have climate control?
I just checked the 1991 300E we are selling and it has the same switches as our '86 300E. We have a '92 190E that does not have a climate control. If I remember correctly it does not have the EC (ecomony) button since you have to turn on the AC button on and then select the desired mix of hot or cold air. The controls look very similar to the ones with the climate control, but on the 190 you can select the fan speed, and there is no 'auto' button. See if this is your case, and I think the button on top of the AC is the recycle button (I'll have to check).
Hope this helps... |
I've never seen a 124 without the economy button.

I second suginami - I haven't seen a W124 that didn't have it. Mine does - I use it regularly.
I think maybe you found a rare one? Regards, - Ryan |
All the economy button does is run the the heater fan without the A/C running as well
