W126 fire under dash, wires melted, identify?

A nice day driving in the country and suddenly this mess. Smoke, little quick fire. I am REALLY glad I had the carpet out at the time. This would be the area right behind the left foot rest on driver side.

The wire on it own now met up with a small connection. I aligned the wire so that in the first picture it would be how it would normally route. Is the larger red wire with black lining that goes up from the foot area to under the dash. Thicker gauge, so I think it some sorta power wire. The coupler it normally connects to has a smaller red wire with yellow stripe teed into it. As seen in photo.

Weird thing is that I can not find a system that does not work yet. Heated/power seats work. Rear defrost. Tried everything I could.

So any clue as to what this wire harness is for?
