Possible to use w108 engine on w114?

I own a 1971 250C and I need to swap its engine since it has been blown. After discussing the situation with a mechanic, he informed me that any engine from a 250 or 280 from years 68-71 would fit the car. So I went ahead and bought a 1970 280S/8.

However, I'm really worried if it will really fit because after doing some research I learned that although both have a M130 engine, my 250C has W114 chassis and the one that I bought has W108 chassis.

Would you be able to inform me if it will really fit the car (and I'm praying to God that your answer is "yes it does").

Thank you!

Do you not understand that you have answered your own question?

Thanks for your reply. I know it may seem like a dumb question but I don't know anything about cars and I'm only learning now. Do you believe the difference in chassis will make this impossible? I'm hoping that the worse case scenario is putting brackets and adapters to fit it in.
